Five Russian scientists, including the famous Japanologist, Alexander Meshcheryakov, were awarded the Orders of the Rising Sun and the Sacred Treasure of Japan, RIA News reports.

Meshcheryakov, who is a chief research fellow at the Higher School of Economics National Research University, and Irina Lebedeva, a chief research fellow at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, were awarded the Order of the Rising Sun with golden rays and a neck ribbon.
The Order of the Rising Sun with golden rays and a socket was received by a senior researcher at the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vadim Klimov, and a director of the Far Eastern Art Museum Valentina Zaporozhskaya. A senior researcher at the State Museum of Oriental Art, Galina Shishkina, was awarded the Order of the Holy Treasure with golden rays and a ribbon.
