Almaz-Antey Started Quadrocopters Serial Production

Russian aerospace defense concern “Almaz-Antey” has started serial production of quadrocopters. By the end of the year, about 1,000 drones will be produced at a price “significantly lower than foreign analogues,” as the company’s press service reported.

JSC Concern VKO “Almaz-Antey” is a Russian state-owned company in the arms industry, a result of a merger of Antey Corporation and NPO Almaz, unifying some of the national military enterprises, in particular, the developers of anti-aircraft defence systems.

“Serial production of multifunctional unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the civilian market has started in St. Petersburg at the site of the North-Western Regional Center of the Almaz-Antey Concern of the aerospace defense – the Obukhov Plant. The first 400 products will be assembled in November, and by the end of this year it is planned to produce about 1,000 drones,” the concern’s press service reported.

According to the press service, the drones are made according to the “quadcopter” scheme, the most popular and convenient functionality was taken as the basis of the project, even for a novice user.

The project was developed as part of a program to diversify production at enterprises of the military-industrial complex. The launch of UAV sales is planned before the end of the year, and the preliminary cost of a complete set is “significantly lower than the foreign analogues on the market.”

As specified, the devices use Russian materials, have high strength, can be operated in strong winds and negative temperatures. The drones are delivered in a waterproof case. The kit includes a drone itself, two domestic replaceable batteries, a tablet computer with installed software, a remote control, a set for transmitting video to a mobile device, a set of spare blades and a key for installing them, connecting cables and chargers.
