The “My School Restaurant” project has been operating in Moscow since 2013. Its goal is to improve the culture of children’s nutrition, as well as to turn the school canteen into a place for recreation of students, the official website of the Moscow Mayor reports. During this time 120 educational institutions in Moscow have joined the project to transform ordinary school canteens into themed restaurants.
It is reported that the walls of the Moscow school canteens were decorated with images of famous cartoon characters, and new dishes were introduced into the menu. The new menu in such “restaurants” has been compiled taking into account the taste preferences of schoolchildren and the wishes of their parents. It is also noted that in restaurants, there are buffets with products for a healthy snack. So, schoolchildren can now buy fermented milk drinks, yoghurts, fruits, and vegetables. It is specified that all meals comply with the Russian sanitary requirements.
