Almost 13 Million Tourists Visited Russian Resorts This Summer

According to the preliminary estimates of the Association of Tour Operators in Russia (ATOR), during the three summer months of 2022, only the massive beach resorts of Russia on the Black Sea and the Baltic, as well as the resorts of Caucasian Mineral Waters received about 13 million tourists.

According to the ATOR Vice-President, Sergey Romashkin, in general, the domestic summer tourist flow in the Russian Federation has recovered to pre-pandemic values and even outgrown them by 5 per cent. ATOR specified that about 2.1 million Russian tourists also visited Turkey in the summer of 2022, and almost 800 thousand Russians spent their vacations in Abkhazia.

“The subsidence of the tourist flow to the Crimea and a slight decrease in the Krasnodar Territory due to the closed airports in the South of Russia was, of course, compensated this year by an increase in the number of domestic tourists in other regions – primarily in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Caucasian Mineral Waters, Dagestan and many other regions,” Romashkin noted.

On August 25, it was reported that the sale of autumn and winter cashback tours had already begun in Russia. It was clarified that you can go on a trip with cashback from October 1 to December 25. All regions of the country participate in the programme, and hotels and sanatoriums of the Far East have an increased cashback of up to 40 thousand rubles.
