In accordance with the presidential decree, Russia celebrated the Day of Russian Science on February 8, 2021. One of the largest scientific centres in Russia, the Novosibirsk region, in 2019, had 116 organizations engaged in scientific research, VN.ru reports. During this period, the region carried out scientific and technical work in the amount of 37.2 billion rubles.
It is specified that the number of employees who performed research and development in the region amounted to 21,690 people, of which 1,530 people had a doctorate degree and 3,663 people are candidates of sciences. It is noted that the average salary for such workers in the Novosibirsk region was 41,564 rubles.
According to analysts from the hh.ru job search service, last year about 5 thousand applicants from Novosibirsk were looking for work in science and education, including specializations in engineering and humanities, mathematics, chemistry, biotechnology, physics, and earth sciences. Most specialists are required in the humanities (21 per cent), as well as engineering (15 per cent), maths (11 per cent), chemistry (9 per cent), and biotechnology (6 per cent).
