Researchers from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, together with the Almazov National Medical Research Centre, have created a system for analyzing endoscopic images of mucous organs and supporting medical decisions. The data on the development of Russian scientists are published in the International Journal of Gynecological Cancer.
It is noted that images are obtained using endoscopes, which are inserted into the patient’s body through natural openings. Endoscopes are equipped with a lighting and optical system. The images of internal organs obtained with their help are recorded using photo and video cameras. It is specified that with the help of the new system, the subjectivity of evaluating medical images is eliminated.
It is stated that the development of Russian scientists will make it possible to identify pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract organs, conditionally benign gynaecological diseases, as well as oncological diseases. It is specified that it is convenient to use the new product when conducting mass screening studies and examining patients in remote settlements, where there are only few specialists for such work.
