Ban on Cigarettes: Tobacco Products Can Be Removed from Samara Kiosks

Deputies of the Samara Regional Duma decided to invite the federal authorities to tighten anti-tobacco law. The idea is to ban the sale of cigarettes in retail outlets of a small area, 63.RU reports. For cities, a restriction of 25 square meters is proposed, for rural areas, it is 10 square meters. The sale of cigarettes in retail outlets of a smaller area will be prohibited.

In the Samara region, in addition to the federal law, a regional anti-tobacco law also applies. The first prohibits smoking in cultural, social, medical institutions and around them, as well as in elevators, on playgrounds, on beaches, in aeroplanes, trains and other places with a large number of people.

Samara authorities banned smoking at public transport stops, at the entrances of residential buildings, parks, squares, the embankment of the Volga River and venues where mass cultural events take place. The penalty for violation is 1,500 rubles.
