Belarusian Defence Ministry Reported on Border Violations by Ukraine

The Ministry of Defence of Belarus reported that it had called the military attache of Ukraine due to the increased cases of border violations. Previously, the country’s Foreign Ministry protested to the Ambassador of Ukraine because of the launch of a drone on their territory.

According to the Belarusian Ministry, the drone illegally crossed the border on January 24, after which it was forced to land by specialists from the armed forces. An analysis of the onboard equipment data showed that the UAV was launched from the territory of Ukraine to “carry out illegal reconnaissance activities over the Brestsky military training ground.”

“The military attache for the defence at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Belarus, Colonel Katsuba, was summoned to the Belarusian defence department where he was handed a note of protest,” the Belarusian Defence Ministry reported.

Currently, the joint military exercises are being held in Belarus by the country’s military together with Russia’s military forces. The Russian and Belarusian military will work out the tasks of suppressing external aggression and combating terrorism and, what is important, the Brestsky training ground is also involved in these manoeuvres.

Earlier it was reported that the operational and combat training events are being held against the background of the aggravation of the military-political situation in the world and the continuing growth of tension in Europe. The goal of the training is the test of the ability of the military of the Union State to repel threats at the border. And right after it was announced that the training has started, Ukrainian drones began to “follow” the situation.

So, the Ukrainian military attache was told that Kiev should conduct proceedings on this incident, and then inform Minsk about its results, as this is already the third violation of the Belarusian border by the Ukrainian side since November 2021.
