On Thursday, February 10, the US Department of State released a ‘Level 4: Do Not Travel’ advisory warning Americans against going to or staying in Ukraine “due to the increased threats of Russian military action.”

“Those in Ukraine should depart now via commercial or private means,” the Department urged.
The Department warns US citizens to avoid travelling to Ukraine and for those who are already there it is highly recommended to depart immediately “using commercial or other privately available transportation options.” This warnings are explained by the “continued reports” of an alleged “Russian military build-up” on the border with Ukraine.
“The security conditions, particularly along Ukraine’s borders, in Russia-occupied Crimea, and in Russia-controlled eastern Ukraine, are unpredictable and can deteriorate with little notice. Demonstrations, which have turned violent at times, regularly occur throughout Ukraine, including in Kyiv,” the Department states.
Thus, despite all the statements by Russian officials and personally the country’s President Vladimir Putin about the groundlessness of such US claims, despite all statements of Russia that there is no threat to anybody coming from the Russian side, the US flames up the panic in its citizens’ minds creating a dramatic picture of consequences in case of being connected to Russia. Such kinds of warnings can not stay unnoticed and have already received feedback from the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“We have already thought for ourselves: maybe it is the Anglo-Saxons who are preparing something if they evacuate their employees. We have also looked at their actions and, probably, we will also advise the non-essential personnel of our diplomatic institutions to go home for a while,” Lavrov said assuming that the UK and the US might be preparing some actions in Ukraine.
Moreover, the US State Department warned US citizens about the demonstrations regularly occurring throughout Ukraine. So, what are those regular demonstrations and what is the regularity as a notion then in the minds of the State Department officials? As, if they try and follow the Ukrainian news the number of demonstrations there are far from the standard understanding of “regularity”.
“US citizens in Ukraine should be aware that the US government will not be able to evacuate U.S. citizens in the event of Russian military action anywhere in Ukraine. Military action may commence at any time and without warning,” the State Department said.
And still, despite all the tries of Russia to establish peaceful relations with the USA and the EU, including by the proposed security guarantees, and despite the number of evidence that Russian troops are relocated only throughout the country’s territory, thus not posing any threat to anyone, Russia is still depicted as the evilest force threatening to the Americans more than any other country in the world.
Such attitude even forced Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko, to announce beforehand that Russia and Belarus were going to hold joint military exercises in February before even the exact date was set – to show the West that there is no sudden relocation of troops or massing them in Russia or Belarus for no reason.
“Define, inform, so that we are not reproached that we have pulled some troops here for no reason as if we are going to fight,” the President then instructed the Head of the country’s Defence Ministry Viktor Khrenin.
Returning to the State Department issue, we can further see that it asks US citizens avoid Donbass as well, as “crime targeting foreigners” is said to be common there. These claims totally oppose the real state of things as the numerous reports even including videos from the ground were coming from the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk with foreigners telling the truth about the ongoing war and they apparently did not look oppressed or discriminated in the area.
All this was said to warn US citizens in Ukraine that nobody from their own country will come and save them in case of trouble:
“The US government will not be able to evacuate US citizens in the event of Russian military action anywhere in Ukraine,” the message says.
The statement was confirmed by Joe Biden during a Thursday evening broadcast with NBC News anchor Lester Holt.
“American citizens should leave now,” Biden stressed.
He asserted that there is no scenario in which he would deploy US troops to lead an evacuation of Americans from Ukraine, so people are obviously urged to take care of themselves.
“That’s a world war,” Biden said. “When Americans and Russians start shooting at one another […] Things could go crazy quickly.”

In turn, Russia sees such actions as the preparations from the US side to commit something dangerous and strongly condemns the transfer of US troops to Europe, as stated by Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy.
The US and its allies have deployed more troops to Europe in recent weeks. The US has declared the transfer of more than 8,000 soldiers to Eastern Europe. Biden also confirmed the information promising the US troops to be moving to Eastern Europe and to NATO countries in the near future.
“With regards to the deployment by the Americans and their allies of their troops to Eastern Europe, we strongly condemn this policy. We believe that these are steps in the wrong direction that, instead of defusing the tensions, lead to the escalation of the situation and could provoke crises that we all would like to avoid,” Polyanskiy said.
Thus, demanding Russia to ease the tensions and every day accusing it of fuelling the situation, the US itself remains one of the main drivers of the conflict. As President Putin said, Russia can not be taken as a country acting aggressively because whatever it is doing, it’s inside the country’s borders, in comparison with the actions of the NATO countries. This he said to the French President Emmanuel Macron and the same was said by Lavrov to the British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
“We are not moving towards NATO, but NATO is moving towards us. Therefore, to say that Russia is behaving aggressively, at least, does not correspond to sound logic,” Putin noted.
Truss however did not care much about the stated above when heard it from Lavrov, staying absolutely deaf to his arguments, TASS reports.
“Unlike the drills on its territory, which Russia performs, and after which the troops return to garrisons, the troops that are far from the territory of both the UK, the US, Canada, are sent to Baltic states, to Black Sea states, those troops and arms usually never get back home,” Lavrov said. “The minister pretty much clearly explained that it is no business of ours, whereas Russian troops on the Russian territory are London’s main concern, while the de-escalation logo is the uniting factor for the whole western community.”
So Polyanskiy also said the fact that the US had already deployed about 175,000 troops in other countries cannot but worry Moscow, as well as does the placement of NATO’s military infrastructure near Russia’s borders. Polyanskiy did not rule out that the West is preparing a provocation in the Donbass in order to then accuse Russia of the “invasion.”
All this is only another evidence of the US policy – creating an as dark and grim image of Russia as possible to separate Western nations from Russians, to make peoples hate each other and see an enemy in Russians so that nobody would even talk to them to ask about the real state of things. But from the bird’s-eye view – do the things are really as they are shown?
The US constantly accuses Russia of the alleged military build-up, while sending lethal aid to Ukraine; the US accuses Russia of being a driver of the tensions’ growth while raising the issue of “coming war” and, in fact, refusing Russia’s security (that is, safety) guarantees; the US closes its eyes on people dying in Donbass and Russian humanitarian aid helping them to survive at least somehow while praising Ukraine and supporting it in the most terrible war crimes – so who is the evil force then? And is the “Russian threat” image created by the Western propaganda at least one inch close to the real Russian threat, which the West can possibly face?
Russian officials said hundreds of times – Russia has no intentions to harm any other country and its people, it can only help and support. However, Russia will also not stand the outrageously false accusations and disrespectful behaviour. Thus, the “Russian threat” notion could refer even more not to a barking dog following you and making you scared by its fangs, but to a big and strong bear, that doesn’t step first, though able of a hit back in case its safety is violated and flouted.
