The largest mobile operators in Russia agree on a merger. For this purpose, there will be created a joint venture.
It is not about a full merger, but about work on a common project. Rostelecom, MegaFon, Vimpelcom (Beeline operator) and MTS announced that they want to combine efforts to launch a 5G generation communications network in the country.
According to Kommersant, an agreement of intent has already been concluded, according to which the shares in the new enterprise will be distributed evenly.
Experts say that large-scale work will cover all regions. Specialists will need to clear the spectrum in the range of 700 MHz, 3.4–3.8 GHz, 4.4–4.99 GHz and 24.25–29.5 GHz. Then, at these frequencies, the studies for 5G networks launch will be carried out.
