“No matter how the international situation changes, China will remain committed to the policy it adopted earlier, which is aimed at working together with Russia to boost strategic cooperation, implement mutually beneficial cooperation, jointly promote common interests and facilitate the construction of a new model of international relations and a community of common destiny,” Le Yucheng said.

The diplomat noted that trade between China and Russia had reached $38.2 billion in the first quarter of the year, showing about a 30 per cent rise compared to the same period in 2021, which, according to him, “fully indicates the great flexibility and inner strength of cooperation between the two countries.”

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the parties also discussed ways to deepen cooperation within the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as other regional and global issues.
