At the ‘Let’s Talk About Love’ International Festival the performance “The Tsar’s Hunt” became the leader and collected the largest number of awards, which follows from the conclusion of the festival jury headed by Moscow theatre critic Olga Senatorova, 1rnd reports.
It is specified that the Don Theatre of Drama and Comedy named after V. F. Komissarzhevskaya received a diploma for “Best Festival Performance”, as well as awards for “Best Actress” (Lyudmila Ilyina), “Best Supporting Actor” (Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Alexander Konyakhin), “Best Stage Design” (Kristina Danilina), and “Best Directorial Work “(Pyotr Orlov).
It is explained that the performance of the Novocherkassk theatre “The Tsar’s Hunt” (“Tsarskaya Okhota”) based on the play by Leonid Zorin is based on real historical events. The main characters are Empress Catherine the Great, Count Alexei Orlov, and the impostor claiming the Russian throne, Elizabeth, better known as Princess Tarakanova. These characters form a triangle in which passion of love will become the instrument of the political game.
