A drone attacked the Balaklava thermal power plant in Sevastopol on Thursday night, as a result of which one of the transformers caught fire. There were no casualties and the incident did not affect the electricity supply, as the Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev wrote in his Telegram channel.

“Tonight, a UAV attack was carried out on the Balaklava thermal power plant. One of the transformers, which was on preventive maintenance and did not work, caught fire. By the time the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the station, there was no open fire. TPP workers promptly coped with the fire. The transformer is damaged minimally. There are no casualties,” Razvozhaev wrote.
He clarified that the incident did not affect the power supply of Sevastopol. At the same time, a lot of damage was avoided thanks to the measures taken to ensure the safety of the station.
“The means of radar protection basically ‘shot down’ the drone from its trajectory, and it did not reach its goal,” the governor said.
