Representatives from 51 countries have confirmed their participation in the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) that will take place in Vladivostok, Russia, on September 2, 2021, RT reports. According to the Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev, last time the event gathered a record number of international participants (65 countries).
Trutnev added that guests were requested to come alone due to the current social-distancing situation related to the coronavirus pandemic. He noted that this will reduce the participant’s number in half, from 8,000 two years ago to 4,000 now. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed hope that the forum will be successful, since “the principal participants, such as heads of companies, government bodies, and countries of the Asia-Pacific region will attend the event”. It is specified that in 2021 the Forum venue will host:
- the Exhibition of the Ministry for Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic that will showcase the outcomes of recent economic policy measures in the Far East, presenting key sectors of the regional economy, opportunities for investors, the activities and objectives of development institutions, and current and prospective investment projects;
- the ‘Welcome to the Far East’ exhibition will let Russian federal executive bodies present investment opportunities, incentives, and megaprojects being implemented in the Far Eastern Federal District macroregion in the area of international cooperation;
- exhibitions of paintings by artists from the Far East;
- EEF 2021 partner networking areas;
- historical industry exhibitions including photography and other media.
In addition, the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition will be held on the Ajax Bay Embankment where it will present the unique features of the 11 regions of the Far Eastern Federal District. The exhibition programme will include daily concert programmes of subjects of the Far Eastern Federal District, film screenings, sailing regatta, and sports events dedicated to traditional sports of Asian countries.
