Eastern Economic Forum Started in Vladivostok

The VI Eastern Economic Forum has been opened in the capital of Primorye, Vladivostok. According to the Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev, this year the event can break the record for the number of foreign delegations, as, despite the pandemic, 66 countries take part in it, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

It is specified that the forum programme includes more than 70 events, including panel sessions, round tables, and business dialogues. The main theme of the EEF is the new opportunities of the Far East in a changing world.

“We want one thing – to get our colleagues from federal ministries and departments to constantly keep the issues affecting the development of the Far Eastern Federal District in the focus of their attention,” the Trutnev stressed.

It is noted that during the first sessions, the prospects of the Russian labour market, the state of small business in the Far East, tourism issues and other topics were discussed. Then, as part of the Russia-ASEAN business dialogue, cooperation with the ASEAN countries will be discussed, in particular, joint projects in the field of energy, agriculture, the timber processing industry, and tourism.

In addition, the event’s participants will consider factors to be taken into account for the successful development of the Far East and the Arctic. The full programme of the forum can be viewed on its official website.
