Elks living in the “Taganay” National Park in the Chelyabinsk Region decided to change their habitat. The migration of animals was filmed from the quadcopter, chelTV reports.
As it turned out, when there is too much snow in the Park, elks move from mountainous areas to river and stream valleys. This happens due to the height of the snow cover, which can reach two metres and then it becomes an obstacle even to such a tall animal. It is specified that at the moment about 200 elks live in the National Park.
It is noted that the basis of their diet is branch feed, so one animal can eat up to 16 kilogrammes of branches per day. Also, animals are very fond of salt licks, about 50 pieces of which are located on the territory of “Taganay”. Since elks eat plants, they are forced to extract essential minerals from the salt.
