On November 26, the English band The Tiger Lillies will perform at GlavClub Green Concert. The band is loved not by the masses, but by connoisseurs.
This year they took part in one of the performances of the Chekhov festival. The Tiger Lillies work for culturally educated people. The faces of the musicians are whitened and painted, they resemble terrible clown masks, and their costumes are similar to the clothes of the London underworld inhabitants of the nineteenth century.
The Tiger Lillies sing about crime, death, and loneliness.
The success of the band is associated with subtle, absurd, black English humour. The vocalist sings about the horrors of life and at the same time makes fun of them, overcoming the fears of death and violence inherent in people.
Also, The Tiger Lillies stand at the origins of the dark cabaret genre, experiments with musical themes of German “cafe-chantant” (singing cafe) of the 1920s, as well as music from restaurants and movie theatres where they played between sessions.
November 26, the team will surprise the audience not only with their performance. They are going to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band in Moscow.
