The Federal Quality Control Service (Roskachestvo) experts conducted a study of the Russian wine market and found out which countries’ wines are preferred by the country’s residents. The experts named the top 10 popular countries among Russians supplying still wine with protected geographical indicators, RIA News reported.
According to the experts, Russians most often choose still wines from Italy, Spain, Georgia, France, Abkhazia, Chile, Portugal, South Africa, Germany, and Moldova. Country residents also prefer sparkling wines from Italy, Spain, France, Abkhazia, and Portugal. It is specified that the most expensive wine is imported into the country from France, then goes Georgian wine, and the cheapest one is Moldavian.
The results of the research of domestic wine also showed that high-quality Russian wines can be presented even in the category up to 250 rubles. The cost of the most popular still wine exceeds 450 rubles per bottle, and sparkling, more than 1,000 rubles. The experts also remind country residents that excessive alcohol consumption is harmful to their health.
