Experts Named Russian Regions With Cheapest Petrol

According to official data, the cost of AI-92 petrol from mid-January 2020 to mid-January 2021 increased by 2.9 per cent, which is lower than the inflation rate last year. In more than half of the country’s regions, fuel prices changed by less than 3 per cent. As shown by a study conducted by RIA News, in January 2021, the difference between the maximum and minimum prices for AI-92 gasoline in the regions was about 33 per cent.  

To assess the availability of car fuel, RIA News experts calculated the amount of petrol that residents of different regions can buy for average monthly salaries and made a rating on fuel availability. The leader became the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, where for an average salary a person can buy 2,155 litres of petrol per month. The second place belongs to Moscow (1,944 litres) and the third to Chukotka (1,707 litres). It is specified that the average value of the availability of AI-92 petrol for the population in Russia is 1,002 litres.

In addition to these three, in another thirteen regions of the country, drivers can purchase more than a thousand litres of AI-92 petrol for the average wages in the region (Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Magadan Oblast, Sakhalin Oblast, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Kamchatka Territory, St. Petersburg, Murmansk Oblast, the Republic of Sakha, Moscow region, the Republic of Komi, and Krasnoyarsk Territory, as well as Arkhangelsk and Tyumen regions.
