Experts from the Federal Statistics Service (Rosstat) analyzed the number of weddings and divorces in Russia in 2020 and compared the data obtained with the data for 2019, News.ru reports.
According to the results of the study, in St. Petersburg, the marriage rate per 1,000 population was 7.6, in the Kamchatka Territory 7, in the Sakhalin Region 7, in Sevastopol 6.9, and in the Kaliningrad Region 6.4. The minimum indicators were in the Leningrad Region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (3.6 each), Ingushetia (3.7), as well as Chuvashia, Mordovia, and Kalmykia (3.8 each).
At the same time, analysts note that simultaneously with the decrease in the number of marriages, there are fewer divorces. In 2019, the divorce rate per 1,000 population was 4.2, and in 2020 – 3.9. Most families divorced in Magadan and Sakhalin regions (5.1 each) and least in Chechnya and Ingushetia (1 each). In addition, it was reminded that the number of civil marriages is constantly growing, which also contributes to the change of the real number of weddings.
