In the ranking of the best Russian regions in terms of socio-economic growth at the end of 2020, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug became the leader, according to the Civil Society Development Foundation.

It is noted that when creating the list, experts studied such indicators as the average monthly wage, the subsistence minimum, as well as the ratio of the regional product to the economically active population. Thus, the Magadan Region took second place in terms of socio-economic stability and Chukotka took third.
In addition, the top ten leaders included the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Sakhalin Oblast, Moscow, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Yakutia, Murmansk Oblast, and St. Petersburg. It is clarified that the presence in the top of Moscow and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug is mostly due to the proactive policy in the field of social development, which is being pursued by the management teams of these territories.
