In November, Russians began to buy Christmas decorations more often: by the middle of the month, the number of such orders increased by 3.3 times compared to October, which comes from the data of the “SberMarket” online grocery delivery service.
According to experts, based on the experience of last year, by the end of November, Russians will buy 22 times more Christmas decorations than in October. And in December, demand may grow by another 600 per cent.
Among Christmas decorations, balls are most frequently bought. The most popular color among Russians is white. Blue color is twice as rare, and silver closes the top three. Russians also typically buy red and golden balls. In addition to balls, residents of the country buy tops for Christmas trees, icicle-shaped decorations and electric garlands.
According to the study, along with Christmas toys, Russians began to buy other Christmas decorations for the house. The leaders of demand are a set of Snow Lace bows, a sticker “Snow Lace” and a New Year’s wreath “Black Box Trees with frost”.
At the same time, residents of the regions of Russia choose different decorations. For example, in St. Petersburg, sets of golden balls are preferred, while in other cities, white Christmas tree toys are indisputably in the lead. While in Rostov-on-Don they buy rabbit figurines in a variety of sizes, residents of Kazan and Yekaterinburg are bypassing the symbol of the coming year. It is noteworthy that artificial snow from all the analyzed cities is popular only in Novosibirsk.
