In the President’s New Year speech, Russians would like to hear something good and encouraging, as well as news of an increase in wages and pensions or a halt in the rise in prices for communal services and food products. Also, people expect to hear the wishes of good health and the pandemic to be over.
According to the Russian Public Opinion Foundation, most Russians watch the president’s video message on New Year’s Eve. For example, last year it was watched by 76% of respondents, while the largest number of viewers (79%) was gathered by Vladimir Putin in 2009, which is close to the current situation (78% of respondents are going to watch a video message on a festive night).
