Specialists of the MTS telecom operator analyzed the sales of gadgets in Rostov in the first three months of 2021 and came to the conclusion that people began to choose new products more carefully and spend more money on them, 1rnd reports.
Thus, the average cost of a purchased gadget in Rostov in January-March 2021 compared to the same period in 2020 increased by 31 per cent (up to 24 thousand rubles), which is the maximum increase in the history of the Russian market. It is specified that Apple has become the absolute leader in sales; Samsung occupies the second place, and Xiaomi is in the third. The top 5 is closed by Honor and Huawei. Among specific models, the iPhone 11, Xiaomi Redmi 9A, Samsung Galaxy A12, Samsung Galaxy A01 Core, and Samsung Galaxy A12 were the most in-demand.
Moreover, MTS Big Data revealed an even more interesting trend. Now Rostovites are ready to spend on smartphones not only more money but also more time. Thus, the average time of Internet sessions of users in online stores and on sites with reviews about gadgets has increased by 35 per cent over the past year. So, people are ready to choose a more expensive model that will remain relevant for several years, and the difference in price is compensated by the trade-in programme or interest-free instalments for 24 months.
