Film Festival to Be Held in Moscow Soon

The 29th Open Festival of student and debut films “Saint Anna” will be held this year from April 15 to 20 in Moscow. Twenty film schools will take part in the event.

The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Union of Cinematographers of Russia and the National Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Russia.

The films will compete in 13 nominations. The competition program includes 118 student and debut short films, of which 80 feature films, 18 documentaries, and 19 animated. Sixty-six of them will be shown for the first time.

In 2022, the chairman of the jury will be director Andrei Zaitsev, winner of the MIFF, Golden Eagle, Kinotavr, Krakow and Tallinn International Film Festivals.

The festival will open on April 15 at 4 pm at the ZIL Cultural Center with a master class by Zhora Kryzhovnikov, a film director, winner of the St. Anna Festival, awarded a diploma for the short film “Happy Purchase” in 2011 and a special jury prize of the St. Anna Film Festival for the short film “The Curse” in 2012.

In addition, this year, the St. Anna Festival will give young filmmakers the opportunity to take part in a charity event. On April 18, from 2 pm to 3.30 pm and on April 19 from 3.30 pm to 5 pm, the Blagosphere Charity Development Center will host screenings of a special program of films for children from orphanages, as well as for children with special needs and for children from large families.
