The International Platonov Arts Festival, which has been held annually in Voronezh since 2010, will for the first time present in its programme the Bolshoi Theatre tour, which will take place at the Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theatre on April 16-17, 2021, TASS reports with reference to the press service of the festival.

It is specified that the XI Platonov Arts Festival will present the first project of 2021, Jean-Christophe Mayo‘s ballet “The Taming of the Shrew” performed by the Bolshoi Ballet Company. As the artistic director of the Platonov Arts Festival, Mikhail Bychkov, added, in the Voronezh region, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was allowed to fill theatres by no more than 80 per cent. However, when the sanitary and epidemiological situation improves, 100 per cent of the seats in the hall will be sold for the Bolshoi Theater tour performances.
Bychkov noted that the ballet will be accompanied by the Voronezh Academic Symphony Orchestra, but conducted by the Bolshoi Theatre guest conductor Alexey Repnikov. According to the press service of the festival, the play “The Taming of the Shrew” will be performed by two different cast of Bolshoi Theatre artists, including those with the participation of Ekaterina Krysanova and Vladislav Lantratov, who have been awarded the Golden Mask national theatre award.
