On May 1, a cruise train on the route “Hospitable Caucasus. The Great Silk Road” departed from the Paveletsky railway station in Moscow for the first time, RIA Novosti reports. It will be on the way for seven days and six nights and will pass through Novorossiysk, Kislovodsk, Yessentuki, Grozny, Makhachkala, Derbent, and Volgograd.
There are surprises awaiting travellers at almost every long stop. For example, in Novorossiysk, there will be not only a city tour but also a visit to the village of Abrau-Dyurso and the eponymous champagne factory. In Pyatigorsk, tourists will visit Lermontov’s places and famous parks, and in Kislovodsk, narzan springs and a “singing” fountain.
In Chechnya, in addition to visiting the Argun Gorge and excursions around Grozny, tourists will be taught how to cook national chepalgash pies. Then, in Makhachkala, they will be offered a night excursion and a trip to the Caspian Sea. In Derbent, Muscovites will be able to see the citadel of Naryn-Kala and get acquainted with the production of famous cognac.
“The train is comfortable, there are sockets, you can adjust the temperature in the compartment or in the SW. But what amazed first of all was the showers. They are located right in the SW,” a tourist, Victoria Bolotova, said.
It is noted that the train has a bar car and a dining car. In the first, a programme is provided for guests in the evenings, namely live music, karaoke, and disco. In turn, the dining car has medium-high prices and national cuisine.
The price of a cruise per person is 55,800, 66,950, and 73,900 rubles in reserved seats, 99,700 (single) in SW, and 114,600 rubles (single) in Premium. The price includes breakfast, excursions and meals in cities.
It is specified that the route is still on the schedule until the end of May, so you can hit the road on the 8th, 15th and 22nd of May. However, it is most likely that it will be extended until the autumn since people buy tickets really quickly.
