According to the Bank of Russia, the amount of accumulated foreign direct investment in Moscow is 260.2 billion dollars, which is almost half of all foreign investment in the country, the official website of the Moscow Mayor reports.
As the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy, Property, and Land Relations, Vladimir Efimov, noted, Germany, France, Finland, Italy, Austria, and America were the largest investors in the Moscow economy. He specified that most often, foreign business invests in companies engaged in financial and insurance activities, trade, industry, high technology sectors, and real estate. It is also noted that projects that are implemented with the help of foreign investment help the development of the urban economy, as well as provide additional jobs for residents of the city.
