The patents for selectors of automatic transmissions for two models of GAZ cars of the GAZelle Next and GAZon Next families have appeared in the database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property, Zarulem reports.
It is specified that GAZelle Next will be equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission Punch 6L50. For GAZon Next, the engineers of the Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) in Nizhny Novgorod developed their own automatic transmission, also a 6-speed one. GAZelle will receive an automatic transmission with a 2.8-litre Cummins ISF turbodiesel with a capacity of 149 hp, while GAZon will have a 4.4-litre YaMZ-534 diesel of the same capacity. Also, GAZelle should soon receive 6-speed manual transmission, like the Valdai Next, which will replace the 5-speed unit. In turn, GAZon will continue to be equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
