‘Gazprom’ Became Most Mentioned Russian Company in Foreign Media

‘Gazprom’, ‘Rosneft’, and ‘Lukoil’ topped the list of the most mentioned largest Russian companies in foreign media in 2020. The rating was prepared by the “LexisNexis” provider of legal business research, especially for TASS.  

The experts analyzed the number of references in the press of the first hundred of the RAEX-600 rating of the largest companies in Russia. It is noted that ‘Gazprom’ invariably occupies a leading position (27,209 mentions). First of all, foreign media are interested in the construction of Nord Stream 2, gas supplies to Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the topic of price formation for natural gas for supplies to Belarus.

The second place in the rating was taken by ‘Rosneft’ (14,179 mentions), the key topics around which were the termination of the company’s activities in Venezuela and the signing of a deal with Indian Oil to supply 2 million tonnes of oil to India. The top three is closed by ‘Lukoil’ (10,831 mentions), foreign media reported on an agreement to acquire 40 per cent in the Senegal company ‘Cairn Energy’ and on the supply of lubricants for the ‘MAN’ engine plant in Nuremberg (Germany).

In addition, foreign media are showing interest in ‘Yandex’ (7,733 mentions) and its innovative developments, ‘Aeroflot’ (6,661 mentions) and its decision on passengers who refuse to wear a mask, the Sberbank’s financial performance (6,296 mentions) and its plans for the issue of cryptocurrency, as well as ‘Evraz’ (6,014 mentions), ‘Rosatom’ (5,390 mentions), ‘Rusal’ (4,268 mentions), and ‘Megafon’ (3,626 mentions).
