Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Dendias, said that in a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, he requested a second Beriev Be-200 aircraft to extinguish forest fires.

It is noted that in Greece, record heat was set in the past 40 years. On August 3, the temperature in some areas reached 47 degrees Celsius. This caused violent wildfires raging around the country in a week. So, the ban on visiting forests, national parks, natural areas and groves in Greece has been extended until August 13, 2021.
Since June 30, a Russian Be-200 has been in Greece that daily participates in extinguishing numerous wildfires and, according to the Greeks, has shown high efficiency. Today, during a telephone conversation between Russian and Greek Foreign Ministers a second Be-200 plane was requested.
I had an extensive telephone conversation with #Russia counterpart S.#Lavrov earlier today. Battling against wildfires was discussed and the examination of the possibility of dispatching an additional Beriev BE-200 airplane to provide assistance was requested. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/c2QhfpAWVA
