Heart of a Soldier: War Film Released in Yakutia [Video]

The feature film “The Heart of a Soldier” based on the work of the Yakut writer, poet, and front-line soldier Timofey Smetanin, was released today in Yakutia, TASS reports with reference to the film’s director Ruslan Tarakhovsky.  

The director said that there are two temporal parallels in the film. In one, Timofey Smetanin writes poetry during the war, and in another, in our time, a young violinist overcomes life obstacles and finds love thanks to the theatre and Smetanin’s poems. The duration of the film is 1 hour 16 minutes.

It is noted that filming began in mid-2017 and lasted three years. The film was shot by order of the Kobyaysky district, where Timofey is from. The author of the idea and the general producer is Dmitry Tatarinov, who hails from the village of Tyaya, like Smetanin himself. The budget of the film was 1.6 million rubles. The shooting took place in the vicinity of Yakutsk, in particular, in the villages of Vladimirovka and Khatassa.
