Indian Astronauts Learn Russian to Work With ‘Soyuz’ Spacecraft

At the Cosmonaut Training Center, 4 Indian astronauts learn Russian to work with the equipment of the Soyuz spacecraft and also eat in the flight canteen along with all the flight crew, reports RT.

According to the head of the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, Pavel Vlasov, astronauts from India are undergoing space training under the program for Russian cosmonauts, but in a reduced volume.

Vlasov noted that Indian astronauts will study the design of the ship in order to use this knowledge in the study of the development ship of the Republic of India. Teaching is officially conducted in Russian with translation.

He also added that the level of training will allow astronauts to easily perceive all descriptions, inscriptions on the controls, and on-board documentation in Russian. Besides, since astronauts from India eat in the flight canteen, meat dishes that are unacceptable to them were excluded from the menu.
