Schoolchildren from 114 countries take part in the 61st International Mathematical Olympiad, which will be held in St. Petersburg throughout the week. The results will be announced on 28 September, TASS reports.
The Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Sergey Kravtsov, noted that the first such competition was held in 1959 in Romania. That time seven countries took part in it. This year, Russia is hosting the contestants already for the fifth time.
It is specified that contestants will complete tasks in their countries remotely, online. The tests will take place at the competition centres in the presence of observers. The main site in Russia will be the Herzen State Pedagogical University in St. Petersburg.
