Iran’s Arms Deals With Russia to Tighten Bilateral Relations 

The conclusion of arms purchase contracts will bolster the relations of Moscow and Tehran, thinks the Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Hossein Bagheri. This was told by him at a meeting with the Russian Navy Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Vice-Admiral Vladimir Kasatonov.

It is specified that Bagheri arrived in Moscow on an official four-day visit on October 17 and has held a meeting with Russian Defence Minister, Sergey Shoigu, as well as talks with Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov. In addition, he visited the Russian Navy’s headquarters in St. Petersburg and military facilities in Kronshtadt.

“The conclusion of arms agreements and their implementation in the near future will considerably deepen our relationships,” the Iranian military chief said.

He noted that “bilateral interaction” between Russia and Iran in the military and defence spheres “has been gaining momentum in recent years”.
