Kaluga Region to Develop Cooperation With Vietnam

Vietnam is one of the five leading foreign trade partners of the Kaluga Region, so on Tuesday, August 17, the Governor of the region, Vladislav Shapsha, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi, RIA News reports.

Shapsha noted that the Kaluga region and the Republic of Vietnam have been united by strong economic ties in recent years.

“Last year, our foreign trade turnover exceeded $315 million, in just three years it has grown tenfold. attractive regions of Russia. Vietnam confidently ranks fifth among the region’s leading foreign trade partners. We have the opportunity to further increase this indicator. Kaluga Region is one of the ten most investment-attractive regions of Russia,” Shapsha specified.

According to the governor, the region’s enterprises are expanding partnerships with Vietnam. As a positive example of such cooperation with the Vietnamese side, he cited TH Milk, which, according to him, has already invested about 2.5 billion rubles in a project for dairy farming and processing of dairy products. Also, the Head of the Region sees benefits from the development of contacts in the educational sphere.

“For 10 years, the Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering has trained for Vietnam over 350 nuclear scientists. I hope their knowledge will be useful in the case of specialists in the implementation of plans to build a nuclear science and technology centre in your country,” he said.

In turn, Dang Minh Khoi expressed his interest in expanding cooperation in agriculture, development of transport links, education, and tourism. According to the ambassador, the Kaluga region has a favourable geographical position and good logistics infrastructure, as well as high industrial and scientific potential.
