Karachay-Cherkessia Residents Cleaned Over 20 km River Banks

Residents of Karachay-Cherkessia took part in an action to clean up river banks, which is being carried out within the framework of the ‘Ecology’ national project. About 4 thousand people have cleaned more than 20 km of the coastline near the water bodies of the republic, TASS reported. 

“Participants in the events for cleaning the banks of rivers from the garbage of the International Action ‘Clean Shores of Eurasia’ and the All-Russian action ‘Water of Russia’ on the territory of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic were 3.7 thousand people, 21 km of cleaned banks on the rivers the Kuban, Teberda, Bolshoi Zelenchuk, Maly Zelenchuk, Dzheguta, Eltarkach, Bolshaya Laba and other small rivers,” said the representative of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the republic.

Earlier, the ministry said that the participants of the ‘Water of Russia’ campaign in Karachay-Cherkessia in 2020 cleaned the banks of more than 20 rivers and lakes with a total length of 550 km. More than 12.5 thousand people took part in more than 30 actions. In total, for six years of the action, about 50 thousand people have become its participants in the territory of the republic.
