Kazan and Tyumen were named cities with the best ecology in Russia, according to the opinion of residents of Russian cities, among which the Superjob online job search service conducted a study, RIA News reports.
The study included 1,500 representatives of the economically active population from Moscow and St. Petersburg, 1,000 residents from cities with a population of one million, and 700 people each from cities with a population of half a million. They assessed the environmental situation in their city as a whole and gave points for the quality of air, water, food, and cleanliness.
Thus, Tyumen and Kazan are megacities with the best ecology, while Togliatti and Ryazan are the most polluted cities. The freshest water is in Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk. The cleanest air is in Tyumen and Krasnodar, where there is also high-quality food (better one is only in Naberezhnye Chelny and Makhachkala). Waste management is best handled in Tyumen and Naberezhnye Chelny.
