Russian dealers of KIA sold 18,818 vehicles in May, which is 2.4 times more than a year earlier, the Autostat Analytical Agency reports. According to the results of five months of 2021, 89,543 KIA vehicles were sold in Russia, which is 39 per cent more than in the same period last year. As a result, KIA holds the lead among foreign automakers in Russia, and the brand’s market share was 13.5 per cent versus 13.4 per cent a year earlier.
It is noted that KIA’s bestseller in the Russian market is the Rio model, which sold 6,682 sedans and cross-hatchbacks in May (+83 per cent). The second place in terms of sales in the KIA lineup in Russia was taken by the KIA K5 business class sedan which was chosen by 3,090 buyers. As noted, this is a record result for the KIA brand in the segment of business-class sedans for the entire period of operation in Russia. The Sportage crossover closes the top three with a sales increase of 2.8 times, to 2,084 vehicles.
This is followed by the compact crossover KIA Seltos, which was sold in the amount of 1,733 cars (an increase of 2.1 times). The mid-size crossover Sorento of the new generation closes the five Russian bestsellers with a record figure of 1,481 sold cars. In addition, the new cross-van KIA Carnival which entered the Russian market in mid-April sold 488 cars in the first full month of sales.
