The Kremlin considers unacceptable the initiative of US congressmen to “not recognize” Vladimir Putin as president if he decides to run for a new term and notes that this demonstrates to the world that the US officially interferes in the affairs of other countries, according to the President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.
Congressmen Steve Cohen and Joe Wilson have submitted to the House of Representatives of the US Congress a proposal not to recognize Russian President Vladimir Putin as the head of the Russian state if he decides to run for a new term in 2024 claiming that his presidency is illegal due to the “false votes counting” and “lack of international observers” in the elections.
“Every time it seems to us that nothing more ridiculous, nothing more aggressive, unfriendly and unconstructive can come from the other side of the ocean anymore. And every time we make a mistake. It comes, unfortunately,” Peskov complained.
He stressed that the actions of the US congressmen are a wonderful demonstration that the US officially interferes in the internal affairs of other countries.
“We consider such congressional initiatives unacceptable. We consider this interference in our affairs. And we are convinced that only Russians can determine who and when should be the president of the Russian Federation,” Peskov concluded.
