According to the analytical agency AutoStat, in May 2020, residents of Russia bought 61.7 thousand new cars. The Russian brand LADA is a leader of the Russian market. Last month 15.6 thousand Russians preferred the cars of this brand and the share of LADA was 25.3%.
Further, the agency’s ranking follows Korean brands KIA (7.9 thousand cars) and Hyundai (6.8 thousand cars), which showed a market decline against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic (by 51, 3% and 47.6%, respectively). According to the results of May, the largest drop was noted in the Japanese Nissan (-57.7%), and the smallest in the German BMW (-33.2%).
In the model structure of the Russian market, the first two lines are occupied by representatives of LADA. Granta remains the leader (in May, 6,000 Russians bought these cars, which is 42% less than a year ago). In second place is Vesta, which sold 4.8 thousand cars (-42.1%). The title of the most popular foreign car in May was taken by KIA Rio (3.9 thousand units, -43.3%). The Hyundai Creta crossover (3.2 thousand units; -41.2%) and the Hyundai Solaris sedan (2.1 thousand units; -52.8%) were also in the top five most popular.
