The farmers of the Lipetsk region, due to the reseeding of a part of winter grains and increased demand for spring wheat, have sown twice as many areas with this crop as it was planned earlier, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the governor of the Lipetsk region Igor Artamonov.
According to Artamonov, 271 thousand hectares out of 553 thousand hectares of total ploughing sown with spring grains and legumes were allocated for spring wheat. The sowing of corn for silage is actively carried out, so now it occupies 61 per cent of the area allotted for this crop. It remains to sow about 15 per cent of the area under corn for grain.
Also, buckwheat is sown in four districts (8 thousand hectares are planned to be sown this year). Sunflower is planted on almost 182 thousand hectares, 58 thousand are sown with rapeseed, more than 53.5 thousand with soybeans (70 per cent of the area planned for this crop).
It is specified that about 330 thousand hectares have been allotted for oilseed crops this year. At the same time, the areas under rapeseed and soybeans will increase by 7.5 and 20 per cent compared to last year.
In addition, more than 108 thousand hectares are already occupied by sugar beets. In total, 115 thousand hectares were allocated for it in the region in 2021, which is 18 per cent more than last year. Also, about 4.4 thousand hectares of potatoes and more than 505 hectares of open field vegetables have already been planted in the region.
