A bust of the Russian writer, Maksim Gorky, was demolished in Odessa. This is reported by the Ukrainian news source “Public” (“Suspilne”).

According to the article, this decision was made by the management of the Gorky sanatorium, on the territory of which the bust was installed. The head of the sanatorium Tatiana Malykhina said that the sculpture “is not a historical heritage.”
The absurdity of the situation comes from the fact that the sanatorium is named after Maksim Gorkiy.
Earlier in Odessa, preparations began for the dismantling of the monument to the Russian Empress Catherine II. A fence made of plywood boards was put up around it, and the sculpture itself was covered with a black canvas.
