Maslenitsa Celebration Gathered 25 Thousand People in Kazan Forest Park

Kazan celebrations of Maslenitsa holiday gathered 25 thousand guests in the Lebyazhye forest park, KazanFirst reports. At the festival, Kazan took part in competitions, feasted on pancakes and heard performances by creative groups. Maslenitsa is also known as Butter Week. Maslenitsa is an Eastern Slavic religious and folk holiday, celebrated during the last week before Orthodox Easter.

A food court of the Maslenitsa celebration in Kazan worked on the festive venue. There were organized ctivity zones where residents of the city could compete in throwing felt boots, running with pancakes, running in bags, play hockey felt boots, and take part in masterclasses. Guests of the event could also bake pancakes on their own; in total, guests baked 235 pancakes.

Residents of the city who participated in the competition “Beautiful Spring” demonstrated their costumes. The winners of the contest for the best photo with pancakes were awarded, and at the end of the celebration, the scarecrow of the Maslenitsa was traditionally burned.
