Moscow Architectural Object Received International Award

In September 2020, the winners of the MIPIM Awards in the field of architecture and construction were awarded in Paris. The jury recognized the Irina Viner-Usmanova Gymnastics Palace as the winner in the nomination “The Best Cultural and Sports Facility”, the official website of the Moscow Mayor reports.  

The Gymnastics Palace, built on the initiative of the coach Irina Viner-Usmanova, the president of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, was opened in Luzhniki in 2019. This is a five-story building with an area of ​​25.7 thousand square metres. The roof, made in the form of a golden flying gymnastic ribbon, makes the building unique. It is noted that it was built using information modeling (BIM) technology. The transforming arena of the palace is designed for almost 4,000 fans.

In 2019, Zaryadye Park, together with the concert hall, received the Grand Prix of the MIPIM Awards in Cannes in the category “Best Urban Environment Restoration Project”. It is specified that the international team of the Diller Scofidio + Renfro design studio, together with Russian engineers and architects, worked on the concept of the park. The park was divided into natural landscape zones. The main attraction of the park is a bridge soaring over the Moskva River at a height of 15 metres, which is used as an observation deck.

In 2018, Zaryadye Park was called the best project in the Visitor Attraction category at the World Architecture Festival. It was also shortlisted for the Best Urban Regeneration Project in the InAvation Awards 2018. In the same year, the complex was named Best Public Space Project at the international architectural portal ArchDaily.

The building of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) was designed by the Swiss architectural bureau Herzog & de Meuron. It is built in the form of a clock case, inside of which rectangular buildings with courtyards and front gardens are mounted. It is specified that in 2019, Skoltech won the main prize of the annual Prix Versailles architecture award in the category “Best University Campus”.
