Analysts of the OneTwoTrip online travel planning service told what places their clients most often visited last weekend when country residents celebrated the Day of Russia (on June 12). It turned out that Moscow became the most popular destination during the holidays, RIA Novosti reports.
Every fifth traveller purchased flights to Moscow with a return to the city of departure, so the share of bookings increased by 20 per cent compared to the same period last year. In the second place was St. Petersburg (11 per cent) and in the third Sochi (10.5 per cent). Next in the ranking are Simferopol (7.9 per cent) and Kaliningrad (5.1 per cent).
It is noted that Anapa, Mineralnye Vody, Krasnodar, Gelendzhik, and Kazan are also included in the list of popular destinations for travel by plane. The train also went to Moscow most often, although the share of bookings decreased by 20 per cent compared to last year. On the contrary, to St. Petersburg which took second place, they travelled more often. Also, many trains went to Krasnodar, Sochi, and Nizhny Novgorod.
