The volume of inpatient care for patients with cancer has increased by more than a third in Moscow during the coronavirus pandemic.
According to Moscow Mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, the volume of inpatient care was increased thanks to the creation of six cancer centres in 2019, VM.ru reports. The mayor said that four more centres are under construction in the city, and in the summer of 2021, it is planned to complete the reconstruction of three centres for providing outpatient care for people with cancer.
In addition, according to the chief physician of the Kommunarka hospital, Denis Protsenko, a comfortable day hospital, chemotherapy rooms, and diagnostic laboratories will operate in the new cancer centre for patients, TASS reports. The chief physician added that the hospital will accommodate two CT scanners, an MRI machine, and a mammography machine. Also, invasive technologies and outpatient ports for chemotherapy will be used to treat patients.
