On the night of July 24, the Moscow Metro hosted the finals of the city competition of professional skills “Metro Station Duty Officer”. The winner was Igor Kharchenko, a duty officer at the station of the replacement group. The top 3 also included Svetlana Silaeva and Natalia Besedina, the attendants at the Skhodnenskaya and Sretensky Boulevard stations.
A duty officer is a shift leader who monitors everything that happens at the station. It is specified that currently, more than 1.2 thousand employees work in this position in the Moscow metro. It is noted that the competition has been held annually since 2001 and three finalists usually receive cash bonuses.
In total, 189 specialists took part in the first stage of the competition. To reach the final, contestants had to pass professional testing perfectly well. The competition committee assessed the candidates’ knowledge of the organization of the station’s work, the procedure for organizing train traffic, and shunting work.
At the final stage of the competition, the contestants also demonstrated in-depth theoretical training, after which at night, after the subway was closed, they moved to the Prospekt Mira station of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line, where they showed their knowledge in practice. The winner was determined by the total number of points scored.
