According to the Moscow mayor, in 2020 it is planned to complete the modernization of the infrastructure, which was initiated two years ago. The Wi-Fi data transfer rate in the metro will be increased to 200 megabits per second, reports the official website of Moscow Mayor.
According to the mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, to communicate with the train, radio equipment is installed that provides a data transfer rate of up to 200 megabits per second, and in the future, even higher.
The mayor said, that the deployment of free Wi-Fi at all metro stations in the capital was completed five years ago, and in 2019, MT_FREE network provided 9.4 million passengers with a connection.
Sobyanin also explained why advertising is an integral part of the free metro Internet. According to the mayor, it really gets on the nerves of many people, but at the expense of it the Wi-Fi operator makes the network operating, which means it can continue to function.
