Moscow Students Developing Receiver of Space Images

Moscow schoolchildren are completing the development of a modernized ground station that will allow them to receive and analyze Earth images from space, VM.RU reports.

Five Moscow schoolchildren became members of the Astra project team. Their station is based on the principle of signal focusing, which means that it receives and processes data from weather satellites. It received the first signal from Sochi, but on that day the city was shrouded in fog, and no one saw the image.

Students created complex electronics and reduced the dimensions of the structure. Now they are at the stage of checking equipment; it remains only to connect and verify it. At the end of March, they plan to conduct the first tests. By summer, the complex should be ready. It can be used for educational purposes, including the studies in the centres of youth innovative creativity.
